MicroNeedling in 2019

There is no slowing down in the growth of the anti-aging market. Fueled by Generation X who is using anti-aging technology as a preventative measure as well as the developing world, the demand for anti-aging products and services is booming. As society has accepted and quasi-embraced cosmetic procedures and non invasive cosmetic procedures, the number and popularity of these procedures continues to rise. And this trend only looks to continue as innovations in skin care formulas as well as research and development into cosmetic procedures only makes the results of these procedures better and better. One more quite unexpected factor is also fueling the demand for anti-aging technology: the adoption of a more sedentary lifestyle has increased the signs of aging as people get less exercise, resulting in weight gain and stretched skin. Experts project that by the end of 2019, the market for anti-aging will be worth of US$191.7 billion.

MDPen, a leader in microneedling pens and other equipment and an ardent supporter of microneedling nurses and other practitioners, has been on the forefront of microneedling technology. Our microneedling pens are top-of-the-line along with our microneedling training courses that are enabling microneedling to expand to more areas. In 2019, MDPen stands to see microneedling procedures continue to grow.

microneedling, otherwise known as collagen induction therapy or skin needling, uses your skin’s natural healing process to produce collagen, a building block of amino acids, to help produce new skin that is younger than previous. Tiny needles puncture the skin in a very controlled manner to rejuvenate it. microneedling has been shown to be effective in treating and improving acne scarring, fine lines and wrinkles, loose skin, skin texture issues, pore size, brown spots, stretch marks, hair loss, and pigment issues.

The number of microneedling sessions will vary from person to person since each person’s skin is unique. Usually four to six is typical to fully treat most skin conditions, which are spaced about a month apart. The reason for this is with each session, the microneedling pen is able to go deeper to the lower, subcutaneous layers of your skin as your skin becomes accustomed to the needle pricks.

First, your skin will be numbed. MDPen offers Neuromed BTL numbing cream, which is a topical anesthetic. A microneedling pen then scrolls across your face much like an old typewriter scrolls a page. The microneedling pen causes tiny injuries to your face — in essence, what your body reads as damage — prompting a response to heal these injuries. The response is in the form of elastin and collagen, which are proteins in your body. Collagen makes up 70 percent of the proteins in your skin and is in fact the most abundant protein in the body, which helps our skin stay tight, flexible, and supple. As we age, the rate of collagen production slows down, which results in sagging skin and fine lines and wrinkles showing up as our skin is no longer propped up as it was in our youth. This is also the reason we lose bone density, our hair loses color, and our joints become stiff.

Collagen is the key to looking youthful and microneedling is just one non invasive cosmetic procedure that targets this important protein. Other things you can do to help with collagen production is eat healthy, such as foods with natural antioxidant properties (kale, blueberries, raspberries, and pecans), and even take collagen vitamin supplements.

Your skin is a living, breathing organ that needs constant care, from the food you eat to what you put on it. Just like eating, you’ll never be “finished” with skin care. The daily actions you do are what makes the difference between glowing, healthy skin and dull, lifeless skin prone to acne breakouts.

That being said, occasionally your skin will need a boost such as what microneedling provides. As you age, these boosts will become more frequent simply due to the natural aging process, not necessarily to what you do. Although there is a correlation between how much you care for your skin and the number of advanced non invasive cosmetic procedures you may need. The more you take care of your skin, the less extras you’ll need. If you neglect your skin, it will deteriorate faster and need more treatments to have the appearance you desire.

MDPen recommends asking a licensed skin care professional such as an MDPen licensed microneedling practitioner or an aesthetician. These skin care professionals can assess your particular skin care needs and advise you on a skin care regimen. They may even be able to draw up an on-going skin care plan for you to follow.

Caring for your skin is paramount to your appearance. When your skin is healthy and radiant, you feel better overall. When your skin is dull, dehydrated, and prone to breakouts, you feel not-so-good. How we look, especially to others, does affect our self-esteem. When we look and feel good, we perform better at work and in everything we do. The opposite is true if we feel we don’t look good.

Taking care of your skin is the key, and MDPen can help. We offer a proprietary skin care line to help you look and feel your best, from moisturizers, cleansers, and serums. We also offer a full line up of microneedling equipment to our licensed microneedling practitioners. We sell MDPen’s microneedling pens, replacement needles, Neuromed BTL numbing cream, and patient brochures. We offer a microneedling practitioner support network online for licensed MDPen practitioners, which includes warranties on our microneedling pens, microneedling training courses, and videos for your use. Examples of microneedling before and after care can be found on our website and on our Facebook page.

2019 promises to be a banner year for microneedling as more and more people discover this wonderful non invasive cosmetic procedure and add it to their repertoire of tools in the fight against anti-aging. With very few side effects and incredible results, microneedling stands to continue its amazing growth. When added to a skin care routine that includes daily and nightly care of your skin, microneedling can give you the appearance you are seeking as you watch fine lines, wrinkles, and old acne scars diminish. MDPen will continue to support and train microneedling professionals as well as add to our many wonderful services and products we offer.
