“Not all your patients are the same. How are we gonna … approach that so that you can … offer technology like this to all of your clientele, but then also deliver the results that are at the highest level?”

The Problem With DIY Microneedling

One of the most memorable moments of the webinar came when Dr. Heskett reacted to several social media videos showing at-home microneedling techniques.

“This is horrifying on a lot of different levels.”

She pointed out concerns including:

• Lack of proper sanitary measures
• Inconsistent movement patterns
• Uncontrolled depth
• Uneven tissue coverage
• Increased risk of irritation or injury

“The technique [in these videos] is completely and totally off the rocker. There is no way to have any control of … consistency [or] coverage that is predictable.”

“Yeah, you can do microneedling at home, and … they sell sushi at gas stations.”

“Technique determines delivery. You want to achieve a certain outcome, so you want to saturate the tissue in the way that will create that outcome.”
